Textile exports record 7.45 percent growth YoY in November

Textile group exports recorded a growth of 7.45 percent on year-on-year basis and reached $1.120 billion in November 2017, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Thursday. Exports data of selected commodities released by PBS noted that textile group exports have soared from $1.042 billion in November 2016 to $1.120 billion for the same month of the current fiscal year.

Amongst textile group, a growth of 3.46 percent was recorded in export of cotton cloth during the period under review and its export increased to $172.775 million from $166.94 million while export of raw cotton increased to $7.631 million from $4.498 million.

Export of yarn other than cotton yarn on year-on-year basis in November 2017 increased to $2.468 million from $1.685 million reflecting a growth of 46.47 percent, export of knitwear reached $225.773 million from $191.280 million with a growth of 18.03 percent and bed-wear raised to $192.098 million from $172.010 million, reflecting an increase of 11.68 percent.

Export of readymade garments increased to $215.465 million from $188.547 million, showing an increase of 14.28 percent, export of art, silk & synthetic textile reached $23.234 million from $17.106 million, reflecting a growth of 35.82 percent.

Export of made-up articles (excluding towels & bed wear) increased to $59.784 million from $57.072 million, showing a growth of 4.75 while export of other textile materials increased to $28.777 million from $ 27.773 million with a growth of 3.62 percent.

However, a negative growth of 13.71 percent was recorded in exports of cotton yarn, 0.29 percent in export of towels and 31.73 percent in tents, tarpaulin and canvas on year-on-year basis in November 2017. Exports of cotton yarn contracted to $111.368 million from $129.059 million, cotton yearn to $69.133 million from $69.337, and tents, canvas and tarpaulin to $11.750 million from $17.212 million.

Pakistan”s exports during the first five months of the current fiscal year increased to $5.510 billion from $5.118 billion recorded during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, reflecting a growth of 7.66 percent. Raw cotton export increased to $50.195 million from 33.513 million, cotton yarn to $553.391 million from $549.853 million, yarn other than cotton yarn to $12.810 million from $11.061 million, export of knitwear increased to $1.098 billion from $980.489 million during July-November 2017 as opposed to the same period of the last fiscal year. Export of bed wear increased to $947.517 million during the first five months of the current fiscal year from $888.448 million for the same period a year before while export of readymade garments increased to $1.018 billion from $888.456 million.
